Step 1

Let's assume you're already logged in. From the home page illustrated below you'll want to click on the Content Pages icon on the Desktop. Go to step 3 if you're familiar with the SIM+CMS workspace already.

Adding text to a page

To add text to a page in SIM+CMS, you can type text directly in the editable region window, or you can cut and paste from a Microsoft Word document or other applications, for example Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat.

When you paste text into a page in SIM+CMS, you can either:

  • use the Paste icon SIM+CMS Paste icon
  • select Edit > Paste from the browser menu bar
  • use the Ctrl+V Windows keyboard shortcut
When you copy text from another application, switch to SIM+CMS, position the cursor where you want to insert the contents of your clipboard, and then paste your content.

Working with colours

There are two ways to use the colour management system in SIM+CMS:

  1. change foreground colour
  2. change background colour

Both work the same way once you've selected whether you want to change the foreground or background colour...

For example if you want to change the colour of text, select the text with your mouse then simply click the Set Foreground Colour icon in the editor toolbar:

In another example, if you want to change the background colour of some text, select the text with your mouse then simply click the Set Background Colour icon in the editor toolbar:

Clicking either the Set Foreground Colour icon or the Set Background Colour icon will activate a dialog box like the one below:

SIM+CMS

You'll notice that there are two tabs: Custom Colour (as selected in the screenshot above) and Web Colours (as shown in the screenshot below).

When using the Custom Colour selection you have complete control over which colour you would like to use. A cross hair can be moved around the square region to select with pinpoint accuracy the exact colour you want and the slider can be dragged up and down the colour spectrum gauge to the right to change the range of colour you can select from.

You'll notice that the colour you've selected will be displayed along with its hexidecimal reference above the colour selection tool.

The Web Colours selection provides the full range of web safe colours for you to choose from. Simply click the colour cell from the table and away you go.
